Finished projects

…Five Moneta, Six Moneta…

Well, well, look at what we have here. Could it be more TNTs (Tried ‘N’ Trues)? I’ve gone and made more Colette Monetas!

My fifth Moneta was actually completed during Me-Made-May but I was waiting to finish another one before posting so I would only bombard you with two at a time. Behold, Moneta #5 with brunette RED!

IMG_5765This is one of my favorites so far. I absolutely LOVE floral prints and the color grey, so this is perfect!

IMG_5768The fabric is from… you guessed it… GirlCharlee.com. I think my fabric stash is a good 50% or more Girl Charlee fabrics. They just have the coolest prints! Oh yeah, and check out that pocket action. I know pockets in knit dresses/skirts isn’t the best idea (think poofy hips), but it helps out a lot at work when I have to carry random things around.

IMG_5785I never wear belts with my Monetas, but I do like how they look. Maybe I’ll start busting out my belts when the weather gets cooler. There is no way I’m going to put more layers on when it’s still hitting over 100 degrees!

And speaking of the weather getting cooler, in about another 2 months, I’ll be able to wear Moneta #6:

This is the first time I made the version with longer sleeves and I like it. The only problem is the sleeves end right where my elbows are, so they roll up a little. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be a 3/4 length sleeve of a half-sleeve, but at least it keeps the guns warm. 🙂

I’m not quite sure how to properly pose with a tree, but I guess this will do. Oh, and check out my hair! It’s a little lighter now, yay! I’m really digging the blonde thing so I think I’ll keep it around for a while, much to the dismay of others (you know who you are…). :-p

Here’s a closer picture if you wanted to check out that cool print. This fabric/print is a little different than my usual style, but I’m liking it! I bought some more fabric similar to this so let the fun crazy patterns begin!

Random weeds found near the wash are always good for a photo op…

…especially when you’re hungry. (J/K, I didn’t really eat it…)

I have a lot more pictures of Moneta #6 than of #5 because DD and I had a little more time to dedicate to the photo shoot (10 minutes vs. 3). So I’ll just dump some “action” shots with belt included!

I am wondering why a flower is coming out of my bum…

Jumpy happy times!

A bit blurry, but I liked this one too much to not include it!

So how many more Monetas do you think I will make? You know it has to be at least 2 more so I can finish my fun rhyme:

One Moneta, Two Moneta

Three Moneta, Four

Five Moneta, Six Moneta

[Stay tuned for] Seven Moneta, more!

  1. Love these! I like the long sleeve version and the print on #6 is gorgeous! I have just finished a post about making the same pattern for the 5th time and wondered if I was obsessed, I don’t think I have to worry! 😉

    1. LOL I saw your post and was like, “Oh, girl – I know what that’s like!” Haha! Hey, once you find something you like, stick with it for sure. I like how they get faster and easier with every version since you’re pretty much running on auto-pilot. Obsessed sewists unite!!

  2. You HAVE to finish the rhyme, duh!! =)

Two more fabulous dresses–you are a machine, girl! I love them and wish I could pull off the oatmeal/ivory color of the fabric you used for #6. That gray floral is amazing and I totally want some of my own. Those photos are priceless, too! And your hair looks so fierce!!! I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING THAT’S HAPPENING OH MY GOD.

    1. Hahaha thank you! I think you could pull off the color of #6. I’m semi-porcelain (well, maybe less so now that I have a Moneta-shaped farmer’s tan as a result of my lunchtime walks at work… no joke) and I don’t think it washes me out too much.

Oh, yes, the rhyme WILL BE FINISHED! I just have a butt ton of projects I have to finish before mid-October (in time for my vacation and Halloween), so the Monetas will have to wait. I have a 4-day weekend next weekend, so it’s time to sew my booty off and get those projects knocked out!!!!

      1. I’m about to start on that sew-cation soon! But first, I need to finish my coffee and finish catching up with the blogging world, LOL!

Blue is a pretty color, bring out those veins, girl! 😉

  3. lady you are on a roll with these!!!
i finally bought the pattern, assembled it, washed my fabric…and its been sitting there for a few weeks untouched.
i feel so discouraged. i don’t want to mess it up! the last few things have been hit and miss…mostly miss. i feel like i suck 😦
but you are seriously the cutest. and your hair is amazing!

    1. I don’t think the Moneta gives way to too much possible fail, so don’t be scared to start! I know that feeling, though… when things just don’t turn out right and you’re like OMG THERE GOES ALL THOSE HOURS OF MY LIFE I’LL NEVER GET BAAAACK. But don’t worry, you don’t suck and you WILL triumph again!

Aww and thanks for the kind words! I’m getting my hair touched up again today – I’m so tempted to do a cool pastel color like yours but I have a stupid boring adult job and they don’t allow too much fun and creativity. 😦

      1. spending the time on it isn’t the thing that is scary, its that I will have basically wasted the fabric and money spent on the fabric…I am hoping that blogging regularly again will help me feel more accomplished and like i can actually do things…so that i’ll feel more confident about sewing too lol

if you did a suer light pastel it would wash out so fast so maybe you should try it out!! you can add a tiny bit of color into your conditioner friday night and have wash your hair before work on monday! haha

      2. Ohhh I hear ya on the fabric wasting. I am so worried about working through my fabric stash that I take my chances. Plus, if it goes wrong, then I’ll have to buy more fabric! Oh, darn! But yeah, that would get expensive.

I sooo want pastel hair! I would be scared of screwing it up and having to to work with colored hair. Sigh, why can’t “adult” jobs relax a little? Geeeeeez

      3. I don’t have a fabric stash lol
I’m just such a perfectionist too.
It’s soooo easy!! I could help you! Lol but I totally agree yay office jobs should be more chill about appearances.

      4. One of our new hires just got her hair cut and colored… she has a cute chin-length bob and has black hair, but she got dark purple underneath so you can’t really tell unless you look hard or she has her hair up. I need to be sneaky like that 🙂

      5. Yeah I’ll need to start growing it out soon. It’s just so tempting to keep it super short because it’s so easy and I suck at styling longer hair… or just hair in general. :3

      6. I should just shave my head, LOL! Sinead O’Connor chic. 😉 It’s just so easy having short hair when you travel – and I plan on traveling a LOT, so I guess I SHOULD stick with short!
